The manufacture of a profile with a specific geometry to the customer's specifications requires tooling consisting of a series of rolls, piercing tools and a cutting tool. Some of these rolls are standard, others have to be designed on the basis of a drawing approved by both parties.
Sadef undertakes the complete design and manufacture of the tooling. A customer who co-invests, fully or partially, in the tooling becomes co-owner of it. Sadef can then not sell the identical profile form to third parties. A customer who wants even greater protection for its profile form can enter into an exclusivity agreement, which is, however, the subject of separate negotiation. Also the way in which the customer invests in the tooling (partially, fully, write-off against a specified order quantity) is part of the commercial negotiation.
